Standard and Custom Drywall Finishes

Standard Levels of Finish (levels 1 - 5)

Industry standard levels of drywall finish are defined in this industry standard document, GA-214-07a Recommended Levels of Gypsum Board Finish.

Dust-free Finishes

Many of our customers enjoy benefits of the Dust-free Options available to them - smooth finishes especially suited to sensitive, operational businesses such as clinics, offices and deli's, and to occupied homes. Options are not limited to Level 4 and Level 5 options. Customers have also requested level 3 smooth finishes and were pleased with the results. See our technical statement on dust production.

Standard Textures

Sand Texture and Sand Swirl

Sand texture, silica or plastic grains mixed with paint or primer, is most commonly spread evenly with a roller or sprayer.
Painted on with a very large brush in a wide, sweeping, half or third circle motion, sand texture is used to make a swirl known as "Sand Swirl."

Acoustic, or "popcorn"

This texture is sprayed light, medium or heavy.
Popcorn texture is identified by its styrofoam pellets, adhered with a ready-mix compound for a rough, bumpy surface.

If you intend to remove popcorn texture dated prior to the 1970's, be sure it contains no asbestos. Asbestos is no longer used to manufacture acoustic texture. Any acoustic texture removal should be done by dampening with a hose on heavy mist setting until the texture scrapes off easily without creating dust.
